You are a role model!

Do you ever?

  • Use your mobile phone when driving?
  • Forget to monitor your speed?
  • Drive too close to the vehicle in front?
  • Day dream at the wheel?
  • Risk driving after drinking alcohol?

Your learner’s impression of how to drive will have been influenced by you. They will have grown up seeing you drive, perhaps on a daily basis. Any bad habits you might have could be accepted as the norm.

All drivers need to reflect from time to time. Ask yourself:

  • Am I putting my family at risk?
  • Am I an ideal role model?

Think about how you can take action to improve your role and in turn your family’s safety.

Are you up-to-date?

Could you do better than your children?

Rules and systems on our roads are constantly evolving. Driving is easier and safer if you keep up-to-date with any changes.

For example, would you know what all the road signs were if you had to take your theory test now?

Information like this is not just for people taking their theory test. It is for all motorists. Having experience is all very well, but it’s not enough if your knowledge is out of date.
